After almost 20 years of hosting live trivia nights across Australia, I've learned what makes a great game and what kills the energy in a room. I know what players love, what frustrates them, and exactly what a venue needs to run a smooth, successful trivia night week after week.
I started out hosting trivia through my entertainment company, Oppy Entertainment, and today we still run 20 local trivia nights every week. That live hosting experience is at the core of everything Pub Trivia Australia produces.
Pub Trivia Australia actually started because a venue asked me a question I couldn't answer.
One of my regular venues wanted to add a Big Screen Trivia game to their night. I went looking for something polished and professional that would look great on a large screen in a pub environment. I couldn't find anything that met the standard I wanted. So I designed and wrote the games myself.
The feedback from that first venue was great. Then more local venues started asking for the same thing. Word spread, the demand grew, and I started selling the games online. Today, Pub Trivia Australia supplies over 115 venues across Australia with ready-to-run trivia content.
As more venues began using our games, we realised that not every trivia night needs a big screen. Many pubs and clubs still prefer paper-based games, so we created that format too. Our paper trivia packs use the same carefully written questions, polished design and high-resolution images as our Big Screen games, giving venues a professional option that suits their space, equipment and crowd.
Our games are developed and tested through real live trivia nights, using feedback from players and hosts before they are supplied to venues or made available online. We run the questions ourselves at our live nights, watch how players respond, and refine anything that doesn't land the way it should.
